I work in an agile development with a focus on iterations, communication, collaboration with the team, and user testing. When creating a design, I consider time constraints, the development team's capabilities, and the interests of both stakeholders and users. In my work, I like incorporating Human-Centred Design and Design Thinking principles.
User Story / Design Brief
First, I identify the problem and the value we aim to deliver. At this stage, I prefer to conduct at least a small amount of research on the topic to provide a relevant and efficient solution. Some tasks require more in-depth research, not only of existing solutions but also of the clients. This effort ultimately helps in creating long-lasting and stable solutions.
While working on the concept, I prefer frequent communication with the product development team and working in smaller iterations. I usually prepare a few possible solutions for discussion and value the opinions of the product development team and subject matter experts. Additionally, I collaborate closely with the development team to explore possible technical solutions and draw inspiration from their ideas.
In my practice, prototyping involves transforming a draft into a prototype that is initially ready for user testing. Once its efficiency is validated, the prototype is refined and polished for development. I prefer to work with established design systems or create them myself. This approach accelerates the process and ensures everything remains clean and organised.
I believe there is nothing more important in the UX field than user testing. For every mid- to complex-level task, I strive to conduct a usability test, even if it means testing with internal employees or friends and family when real users are not accessible. In addition to usability testing, I believe it is crucial to consider all forms of user feedback, including reviews, questionnaires, Google Analytics data, one-on-one conversations, and interviews.
